TOKYO - November 5, 2025 - Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, TSE Prime: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced "IIJ Cloud Exchange Service for Prisma Access," connecting customer sites on an IIJ dedicated private network to Prisma® Access, a cloud-delivered SASE solution provided by Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (head office: California, USA). The new service is to be made available from December 2025.
IIJ Cloud Exchange Service for Prisma Access will provide closed network connections between Prisma Access and a private backbone, which is a customer-dedicated network configured on the IIJ backbone. This service will let customers interconnect their own sites or the cloud platform they use to Prisma Access without going through the Internet. Along with the advantages of a secure and stable communication environment unaffected by external traffic, customers will benefit from the ease of combining Prisma Access to IIJ services such as SD-WAN or multi-cloud connection. This represents the world's first instance (*1) of providing a closed network connection service with Prisma Access.
The Zero Trust security approach has gained traction as cloud use and hybrid work styles have become more common, leading to growing adoption of SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) products that provide integrated network and security functions on the cloud. Among these, use of Prisma Access is increasing especially by large enterprises and customers carrying out business globally.
In 2024, IIJ was certified by Palo Alto Networks as an SP Interconnect partner, (*2) providing customers who purchase Prisma Access from the IIJ Group with a means for accessing the Internet from the IIJ backbone. Customers using Prisma Access gain high-quality Internet access, as well as a wide range of support starting with network configuration. This support is now being enhanced further with the provision of a closed network environment between a private backbone and Prisma Access. In addition to realizing secure and stable communication with Prisma Access, customers will enjoy seamless connection between Prisma Access and their own cloud services as well as the rich lineup of IIJ network services.
Through a private backbone, which is a customer-dedicated network, this service provides closed network connections to Prisma Access from customer sites or various cloud platforms, realizing a secure and stable multi-cloud network.
Ordinarily, use of Prisma Access requires that the customer install network termination equipment (NTE) at sites connecting to it. In combination with IIJ Omnibus Service for WAN connection between sites, a fully managed service becomes possible, including NTE. This approach should ease the burden especially for customers with many sites.
Through a private backbone, customers will be able to add to the closed network and make use of a variety of digital workplace services provided by IIJ, such as authentication platform service and data federation service. By combining these services with Prisma Access, solutions finely tailored to the customer in terms of functions, use cases, and security requirements can be provided.

IIJ, drawing on its extensive knowledge of network technologies and its network services lineup, will continue developing new services and solutions that enable customers to enjoy more convenient and secure cloud services.
